Reading-Station-Area-Redevelopment1An ESP project team has delivered ground investigation elements of the proposed Reading Station Area Redevelopment with Hochtief (UK) Construction.

The six to seven year Network Rail and Department of Transport scheme forms a £425 million project to transform Reading Station and surrounding main lines including five new platforms, an elevated railway, new station entrance and the widening of rail bridges. The scheme will enable more trains to run through Reading, reducing delays on the Great Western Line both east and west, to ease overcrowding at the station and encourage economic growth.

ESP have worked with Hochtief (UK) Construction to achieve key project and report delivery dates allowing engineering design and construction works to continue on schedule. As part of the Phase 1 works the following elements have been completed:

  • Cable Percussion borehole drilling;
  • Rotary cored borehole drilling;
  • Driven sample boreholes;
  • Dynamic probing;
  • Mackintosh probing;
  • Trial pitting;
  • Groundwater and gas monitoring installations;
  • Geotechnical and geoenvironmental testing;
  • Supervision, direction and technical reporting.

The client has and continues to benefit directly as a result of our involvement in the RSAR scheme through timely delivery and positive communication throughout.
