Earth Science Week 2015

Since 2011 The Geological Society has hosted Earth Science Week. This year, the event will take place throughout the second week of October (10th- 18th) in Burlington House.

As 2015 is the 200th anniversary of William Smith’s amazing geological map of England & Wales  (the first nationwide geological map) and is the The Geological Society’s first themed year, the ‘Year of Mud’ (highlighting mud’s role in our understanding of the history of the planet), they have chosen ‘Geological Time’ as the theme for Earth Science Week.

The Geological Society are holding many events throughout Earth Science Week, including the awards for their ‘100 Great Geosites‘ competition.
