Design Manual for Roads and Bridges HD22/08 withdrawn and replaced with CD662: Managing geotechnical risk

Design Manual for Roads and Bridges HD22/08 has been withdrawn and replaced with CD662: Managing geotechnical risk.
“An essential part of each highways project lifecycle is the identification and management of risks; all parties have a role in ensuring that risks are identified and avoided or reduced to tolerable levels. Ground conditions are often uncertain and present risks which have to be managed proactively. Cost overrun was the main risk that the forerunner of this document set out to overcome in 1992. However, ground related risks continue to affect and influence many aspects of highway construction, operation and management.”
This document defines the technical approval and certification procedures to be used to ensure that the risks associated with geotechnical activities are appropriately managed.
